A terminal, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory and a screen that are electrically connected to the processor, wherein the memory stores one or more instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the terminal to:
• detect whether an enabling condition of a power saving mode is satisfied, when the screen is switched from a screen-on state to a screen-off state, and
• perform a power saving operation, when the enabling condition of the power saving mode is satisfied, to reduce power consumption that occurs when an application program in the terminal runs in a background, wherein performing a power saving operation comprises stopping a first-type application program;
• and
• after stopping the first-type application program, prohibit automatic start of the stopped first-type application program, wherein prohibiting automatic start of the stopped first-type application program comprises intercepting a broadcast message sent to the stopped first-type application program to prohibit the broadcast message from triggering the first-type application program to start.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

• detect whether an enabling condition of a power saving mode is satisfied, when a screen of a terminal is switched from a screen-on state to a screen-off state;
• and
• perform a power saving operation, when the enabling condition of the power saving mode is satisfied, to reduce power consumption that occurs when an application program in the terminal runs in a background, wherein performing a power saving operation comprises stopping a first-type application program;
• and
• after stopping the first-type application program, prohibit automatic start of the stopped first-type application program, wherein prohibiting automatic start of the stopped first-type application program comprises intercepting a broadcast message sent to the stopped first-type application program to prohibit the broadcast message from triggering the first-type application program to start.
