Provided herein is technology relating to deuterated amlexanox and particularly, but not exclusively, to compositions comprising deuterated amlexanox, methods of producing deuterated amlexanox, and uses of deuterated amlexanox.

A method of making a composition comprising deuterated amlexanox, the method comprising:
- reacting an amlexanox precursor having a structure according to

- with an homogenous catalyst and deuterium gas to provide a composition comprising deuterated amlexanox having a structure according to
