Abstract
Processes for continuous preparation of bioproducts are described herein. The processes include contacting fatty acid glycerides with alcohols in the presence of an acidic heterogeneous catalyst and separating the fatty acid alkyl esters from the reaction products.
Claims18
A method of continuous manufacture of a fatty acid C5-C50 alcohol ester comprising
- contacting a fatty acid methyl ester feedstock stream with a C5-C50 alcohol stream with a hexavalent molybdenum catalyst to produce a reaction mixture stream comprising a fatty acid C5-C50 alcohol ester, wherein the hexavalent molybdenum catalyst is present in an amount in the range of about 5% to about 20% by weight;
- and
- flash distilling the fatty acid alcohol ester reaction mixture stream to separate one or more distillates from the C5-C50alcohol ester reaction mixture stream.
