Abstract
A pallet sled includes an upper frame including spaced-apart arms adapted to receive feet of a pallet therebetween. A lower frame supports the upper frame. A plurality of pivotable arms connect the lower frame to the upper frame. A handle is pivotably connected to the lower frame and the upper frame, such that pivoting the handle selectively raises and lowers the upper frame relative to the lower frame.
Claims27
A pallet sled comprising:
- an upper frame including spaced-apart arms adapted to receive feet of a pallet therebetween;
- a lower frame supporting the upper frame, the lower frame including spaced-apart arms to receive the feet of the pallet therebetween;
- a plurality of wheels supporting the lower frame;
- a base connecting the arms of the lower frame to one another;
- a pair of ratchet plates pivotably connected to the base at an axis, the pair of ratchet plates pivotably connected to the upper frame, wherein the ratchet plates are pivotable between a first position and a second position, wherein the upper frame is closer to the lower frame in the second position than in the first position;
- and
- a handle pivotably connected to the base at the axis, wherein the handle is selectively engagable and disengageable with the ratchet plates, such that the handle can raise and lower the upper frame by pivoting relative to the lower frame when the handle is engaged and such that the handle can pivot relative to the lower frame without raising or lowering the upper frame when the handle is disengaged.

A pallet sled comprising:
- an upper frame including spaced-apart arms adapted to receive feet of a pallet therebetween;
- a lower frame supporting the upper frame, the lower frame including spaced-apart arms to receive the feet of the pallet therebetween;
- a plurality of wheels supporting the lower frame;
- a plurality of pivot arms each pivotably connected to the upper frame and pivotably connected to the lower frame;
- a pair of ratchet plates pivotable relative to the lower frame, each ratchet plate pivotable about an axis extending through a lower portion thereof, the pair of ratchet plates pivotably connected to the upper frame, wherein the ratchet plates are pivotable between a first position and a second position, wherein the upper frame is closer to the lower frame in the second position than in the first position;
- and
- a handle pivotable about the axis, wherein the handle is selectively engagable and disengageable with the ratchet plates, such that the handle can raise and lower the upper frame by pivoting relative to the lower frame when the handle is engaged and such that the handle can pivot relative to the lower frame without raising or lowering the upper frame when the handle is disengaged.

A pallet sled comprising:
- an upper frame including spaced-apart arms capable of receiving feet of a pallet therebetween;
- a lower frame supporting the upper frame, the lower frame including spaced-apart arms capable of receiving the feet of the pallet therebetween;
- a plurality of wheels supporting the lower frame;
- a plurality of pivot arms each pivotably connected to the upper frame and pivotably connected to the lower frame;
- a pair of ratchet plates pivotable relative to the lower frame, each ratchet plate pivotable about an axis extending through a lower portion of the ratchet plate, wherein the axis is below an upper surface of the upper frame, each of the ratchet plates includes a low notch and a high notch at an upper portion thereof, the pair of ratchet plates pivotable relative to the upper frame and connected to the upper frame, wherein the ratchet plates are pivotable in a first direction from a high position to a low position and in a second direction opposite the first direction from the low position to the high position, wherein the upper frame is closer to the lower frame in the low position than in the high position;
- and
- a handle pivotable about the axis, wherein the handle is selectively engagable and disengageable with the ratchet plates, such that the handle can raise and lower the upper frame by pivoting relative to the lower frame when the handle is engaged and such that the handle can pivot relative to the lower frame without raising or lowering the upper frame when the handle is disengaged.

- a plurality of pivot arms each pivotably connected to the upper frame and pivotably connected to the lower frame;
- a pair of ratchet plates pivotable relative to the lower frame, each ratchet plate pivotable about an axis extending through a lower portion thereof, the pair of ratchet plates pivotably connected to the upper frame, wherein the ratchet plates are pivotable between a first position and a second position, wherein the upper frame is closer to the lower frame in the second position than in the first position, wherein each of the ratchet plates includes a low notch and a high notch;
- a handle pivotably connected to the lower frame, wherein the handle is selectively engagable and disengageable with the ratchet plates, such that the handle can raise and lower the upper frame by pivoting relative to the lower frame when the handle is engaged and such that the handle can pivot relative to the lower frame without raising or lowering the upper frame when the handle is disengaged;
- and
- an indexing bar movable between an engaged position in which the indexing bar selectively engages the handle to the low notches or the high notches of the ratchet plates and a disengaged position in which the handle is disengaged from the ratchet plates, wherein the indexing bar is slidably mounted to a pair of vertical portions of the handle and wherein the indexing bar is biased toward the ratchet plates by at least one spring.
