Recording apparatus and recording method

A recording apparatus comprising:

• a transfer body;
• an application unit configured to apply, onto the transfer body, an ink containing a color material, and a transferability improving liquid configured to increase transferability of the ink onto a recording medium by increasing an adhesion force between the ink and the recording medium;
• a transfer unit configured to transfer an ink image formed on the transfer body onto the recording medium by bringing the transfer body into contact with the recording medium;
• a detection unit configured to detect a region in which the ink remains on the transfer body after the transfer unit transfers the ink image onto the recording medium;
• and
• a determination unit configured to determine an amount of the transferability improving liquid to be applied to the transfer body,
• wherein the amount of the transferability improving liquid to be applied to the transfer body at a second transfer is based on a result of detecting an ink remaining region by the detection unit concerning ink from a first transfer remaining on the transfer body.
