Abstract
The application provides formulations for the topical administration of an active agent comprising at least one steroid, in the form of topical sprays that are propellant-free, and/or substantially non-foaming, and/or alcohol-free. The present application also provides processes for preparing such compositions and methods of using them in management of skin diseases or disorders such as psoriasis, dermatoses, and other associated skin diseases or disorders.
Claims10
A topical pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- an active agent consisting of clobetasol propionate wherein the amount of the active agent consisting of clobetasol propionate is about 0.01% to about 1% of the total weight of the composition;
- at least one emulsifying agent wherein the amount of the at least one emulsifying agent is about 0.25% to about 45% of the total weight of the composition;
- a skin penetration enhancer wherein the amount of the skin penetration enhancer is about 3% to about 10% of the total weight of the composition;
- at least one emollient wherein the amount of the at least one emollient is about 0.01% to about 45% of the total weight of the composition;
- an antioxidant wherein the amount of antioxidant is about 0.01% to about 20%, of the total weight of the composition;
- at least one preservative wherein the amount of the at least one preservative is about 0.25% to about 25%, of the total weight of the composition;
- a water immiscible substance;
- at least one alcohol;
- and water;
- wherein the composition is propylene glycol free, non-foaming, and propellant-free.
