Abstract

A wireless device receives from a base station, one or more messages comprising configuration parameters of a plurality of random access channels for one or more beams of a cell. The wireless device initiates a random access procedure for parallel transmissions of a plurality of random access preambles via the plurality of random access channels for the one or more beams. A plurality of transmission powers corresponding to the parallel transmissions of the plurality of the random access preambles is determined. At least one of the parallel transmissions is dropped if a first calculated transmit power comprising the plurality of transmission powers exceeds a first value. The wireless device transmits, via at least one of the plurality of the random access channels, at least one of the plurality of the random access preambles.

Dependent claims

A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device from a base station, one or more messages comprising configuration parameters of a plurality of beams of a cell;
initiating, by the wireless device, a random access procedure for parallel transmissions of a plurality of random access preambles for the plurality of beams of the cell;
measuring received signal powers of one or more synchronization or channel state information reference signals corresponding to the plurality of beams to determine a plurality of pathloss values;
determining a first calculated transmit power exceeds a first power value, wherein the first calculated transmit power comprises a plurality of transmission powers corresponding to the parallel transmissions of the plurality of random access preambles;
in response to the determining, dropping a first transmission of at least one first random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles based on at least one first pathloss value corresponding to the first transmission being greater than at least one second pathloss value corresponding to a second transmission of at least one second random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles;
and
transmitting, by the wireless device, the at least one second random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles.

A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors;
and
memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:
receive, from a base station, one or more messages comprising configuration parameters of a plurality of beams of a cell;
initiate a random access procedure for parallel transmissions of a plurality of random access preambles for the plurality of beams of the cell;
measure received signal powers of one or more synchronization or channel state information reference signals corresponding to the plurality of beams to determine a plurality of pathloss values;
determine a first calculated transmit power exceeds a first power value, wherein the first calculated transmit power comprises a plurality of transmission powers corresponding to the parallel transmissions of the plurality of random access preambles;
in response to the determining, drop a first transmission of at least one first random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles based on at least one first pathloss value corresponding to the first transmission being greater than at least one second pathloss value corresponding to a second transmission of at least one second random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles;
and
transmit, the at least one second random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles.
