Abstract
A method includes detecting a data flow between a user equipment in a radio access network (RAN) and a content provider, measuring a delivery performance between the user equipment and a transport manager by inspecting a plurality of data packets in the data flow, and inferring control information associated with the data flow using the measured delivery performance. The transport manager is connected between the RAN and the content provider.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- measuring, by a transport manager, a delivery performance between a user equipment in a Radio Access Network (RAN) and the transport manager by inspecting a plurality of data packets in a data flow between the user equipment and a content provider, the transport manager being connected between the RAN and the content provider in an end-to-end path of the plurality of packets;
- and
- inferring, by the transport manager using the measured delivery performance, control information associated with the data flow, wherein the plurality of data packets do not directly include the control information, and wherein the control information is pre-existing control information.
A system including a transport manager, the transport manager comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer executable instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the transport manager to:
- measure a delivery performance between a user equipment in a radio access network (RAN) and the transport manager by inspecting a plurality of data packets in a data flow between the user equipment and a wide-area data network, the transport manager being connected between the RAN and the wide-area data network in an end-to-end path of the plurality of packets;
- and
- infer control information associated with the data flow using the measured delivery performance, wherein the plurality of data packets do not directly include the control information, and wherein the control information is pre-existing control information.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium whose contents, when executed by a computer included in a transport manager, cause the computer to perform operations comprising:
- measuring a plurality of round-trip-time (RTT) latencies between a user equipment in a radio access network (RAN) and the transport manager of a plurality of packets in a data flow between the user equipment and a content provider, the transport manager being connected between the RAN and the content provider in an end-to-end path of the plurality of packets;
- and
- inferring control information associated with the data flow using the plurality of RTT latencies, wherein the control information is pre-existing control information.
