Abstract
A method and apparatus for determining to be a relay UE in a wireless communication system. A user equipment (UE) receives reference signal received power (RSRP) based criteria from a network, and determines to be a relay UE when a specific condition corresponding to the RSRP based criteria is met. The UE may further receive a hysteresis value from the network. When a measured RSRP of the UE plus the hysteresis value is below the RSRP threshold, the UE may determine to be a relay UE.
Claims12
A method performed by a user equipment (UE) capable of relaying in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- while in a radio resource control (RRC) idle mode:
- receiving information on a reference signal received power (RSRP) threshold from a network;
- and
- determining the UE to be a relay UE based on that a measured RSRP of the UE is below the RSRP threshold;
- establishing an RRC connection with the network to enter an RRC connected mode;
- and
- performing a relaying operation between the network and a remote UE.
A user equipment (UE) capable of relaying in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
- a memory;
- a transceiver;
- and
- a processor coupled to the memory and the transceiver,
- wherein the processor is configured to:
- while in a radio resource control (RRC) idle mode:
- control the transceiver to receive information on a reference signal received power (RSRP) threshold from a network, and
- determine the UE to be a relay UE based on that a measured RSRP of the UE is below the RSRP threshold,
- establish an RRC connection with the network with the network to enter an RRC connected mode, and
- perform a relaying operation between the network and a remote UE.
