Abstract
Methods, devices and techniques are disclosed where vectoring is adapted to lines becoming inactive and active, for example in a discontinued operation. In some embodiments, the vectoring is modified based on already present coefficients.

A device arranged to transmit data in a discontinuous operation network, wherein the device comprising:
- a processor, and a memory;
- wherein the device configured to:
- transmit on any of the plurality of lines symbols corresponding to the data are transmitted during a transmission opportunity of a time division duplex (TDD) frame;
- transmit on any one of the plurality of lines in a discontinuous operation mode quiet or idle symbols when no data is available for transmission on that one of the plurality of lines;
- perform crosstalk reduction of a plurality of lines in a vectored group using a crosstalk reduction circuit;
- and
- modify the crosstalk reduction based on a previous crosstalk reduction in case of a change of composition of the vectored group in the discontinuous operation mode;
- wherein, for a case where one line of the lines is deactivated, the device is configured to perform crosstalk reduction by precompensating for crosstalk according to:
- xai=piaT·ua−pdi·padT·ua
- wherein xai is a signal sent on active line a, P is a precompensation matrix, i indicates an inactive line and u is a vector of data signals to be sent on active lines.
