Abstract
A method of retrieving a file, the method including: receiving a portion of a content transmitted in accordance with a multicast protocol via a file delivery service, wherein the content includes data fragments forming a file; receiving a file delivery table (FDT) from the file delivery service; reading in the file delivery table location attributes indicating locations of the data fragments in the file; and determining from the location attributes locations of non-corrupted data fragments in the content portion.
Claims18
A method of retrieving data, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a user device via a data transmission network, a file portion transmitted in accordance with a multicast protocol from a file delivery service linked to the data transmission network, the received file portion including data fragments that are independently processable, the receiving including receiving packets of symbols and generating each data fragment in the received file portion by (i) decoding the received packets of symbols, and (ii) when the received packets of symbols include repair symbols, processing transmission errors using the transmitted repair symbols;
- receiving, by the user device, a file delivery table (FDT) from the file delivery service;
- reading, by the user device, in the file delivery table, location information indicating locations of the data fragments in the received file portion;
- and
- determining, by the user device, from the read location information, a corrupted data fragment present in the data fragments of the received file portion.
A user device comprising a data receiver configured to:
- receive via a data transmission network, a file portion transmitted in accordance with a multicast protocol from a file delivery service linked to the data transmission network, the file being divided into data fragments that are independently processable, the receiving including receiving packets of symbols and generating each data fragment in the received file portion by (i) decoding the received packets of symbols, and (ii) when the received packets of symbols include repair symbols, processing transmission errors using the transmitted repair symbols;
- receive a file delivery table (FDT) from the file delivery service;
- read, in the file delivery table, location information indicating locations of the data fragments in the received file portion;
- and
- determine, from the location information, a non-corrupted data fragment present in the data fragments of the received file portion.
