Abstract
The invention relates to providing a method for obtaining a multilayer film for thermally inducible shrink labels, products thereof and use of such products.
Claims15
A shrinkable multilayer film for labeling comprising a first skin layer, a second skin layer and a core layer between the first skin layer and the second skin layer, wherein the first skin layer and the second skin layer each comprise cyclic olefin copolymer, the core layer consist of propylene terpolymer and copolymer of ethylene and butyl acrylate, wherein the multilayer film is configured to shrink in a direction of orientation of the multilayer film at least 35% at a temperature range between 65 and 85° C., wherein the multilayer film is configured to shrink less than 10% at a temperature below 65° C., and wherein the copolymer of ethylene and butyl acrylate is a block or random copolymer, comprising a n-butyl acrylate content in the range of 5% to 15% by weight.
A method for obtaining a shrinkable multilayer film for thermally inducible shrink labels, the method comprising:
- providing a first skin layer and a second skin layer, wherein the first skin layer and the second skin layer each comprise cyclic olefin copolymer,
- providing a core layer between the first and the second skin layer, wherein the core layer consists of propylene terpolymer and copolymer of ethylene and butyl acrylate, wherein the copolymer of ethylene and butyl acrylate is a block or random copolymer, comprising a n-butyl acrylate content in the range of 5% to 15% by weight,
- stretching the multilayer film in the range of 4 to 7 times in a first direction for obtaining monoaxially stretched multilayer film having a tension in the first direction, and
- cooling the multilayer film to room temperature;
- wherein the multilayer film is configured to shrink in a direction of orientation of the multilayer film at least 35% at a temperature range between 65 and 85° C.;
- and wherein the multilayer film is configured to shrink less than 10% at a temperature below 65° C.
