Abstract
Among other things, hydrogen is released from water at a first location using energy from a first energy source; the released hydrogen is stored in a metal hydride slurry; and the metal hydride slurry is transported to a second location remote from the first location.
Claims20
A method of releasing hydrogen from a slurry, the method comprising:
- storing hydrogen by generating a slurry comprising an inert liquid and a hydride made solely of magnesium hydride;
- conveying the slurry into a discharge device;
- and
- heating the slurry to release the hydrogen from the magnesium hydride to form magnesium metal;
- wherein the hydrogen released from the slurry is an energy source.
2 more elements
A system comprising:
- a hydrogen storage slurry comprising an inert liquid and a hydride made solely of magnesium hydride;
- and
- a discharge device adapted to heat the slurry to a desorption temperature and desorb hydrogen gas from the slurry to release the hydrogen gas from the hydride.
A system comprising:
- a charging device configured to hydride a slurry that stores hydrogen,
- wherein the hydrided slurry comprises an inert liquid and a hydride made solely of magnesium hydride.
