Image processing apparatus and image processing method

An image processing method, comprising:

• a converting step of converting colors of an input image based on information indicating a plurality of colors, wherein the plurality of colors is related to a plurality of sub-ranges consisting a dynamic range of the input image, respectively, wherein in the converting step, for each of the plurality of sub-ranges, regions, in which brightness levels of the input image are included in one of the plurality of sub-ranges, are colored with a color related to the one of the plurality of sub-ranges;
• and
• a setting step of setting one of gradation characteristics including a first gradation characteristic in which gradation values are related to brightness levels represented with absolute brightness, and a second gradation characteristic in which gradation values are related to brightness levels represented with relative brightness, wherein
• in a case that the first gradation characteristic is set in the setting step, in the converting step, for each of a plurality of first sub-ranges, regions, in which brightness levels of the input image are included in one of the plurality of first sub-ranges, are colored with a color related to the one of the plurality of first sub-ranges, the first sub-ranges being obtained by dividing the dynamic range with thresholds represented with absolute brightness;
• and
• in a case that the second gradation characteristic is set in the setting step, in the converting step, for each of a plurality of second sub-ranges, regions, in which brightness levels of the input image are included in one of the plurality of second sub-ranges, are colored with a color related to the one of the plurality of second sub-ranges, the second sub-ranges being obtained by dividing the dynamic range with thresholds represented with relative brightness.

A non-transitory computer readable medium that stores a program, wherein

• the program causes a computer to execute:
• a converting step of converting colors of an input image based on information indicating a plurality of colors, wherein the plurality of colors is related to a plurality of sub-ranges consisting a dynamic range of the input image, respectively, wherein in the converting step, for each of the plurality of sub-ranges, regions, in which brightness levels of the input image are included in one of the plurality of sub-ranges, are colored with a color related to the one of the plurality of sub-ranges;
• and
• a setting step of setting one of gradation characteristics including a first gradation characteristic in which gradation values are related to brightness levels represented with absolute brightness, and a second gradation characteristic in which gradation values are related to brightness levels represented with relative brightness, wherein
• in a case that the first gradation characteristic is set in the setting step, in the converting step, for each of a plurality of first sub-ranges, regions, in which brightness levels of the input image are included in one of the plurality of first sub-ranges, are colored with a color related to the one of the plurality of first sub-ranges, the first sub-ranges being obtained by dividing the dynamic range with thresholds represented with absolute brightness;
• and
• in a case that the second gradation characteristic is set in the setting step, in the converting step, for each of a plurality of second sub-ranges, regions, in which brightness levels of the input image are included in one of the plurality of second sub-ranges, are colored with a color related to the one of the plurality of second sub-ranges, the second sub-ranges being obtained by dividing the dynamic range with thresholds represented with relative brightness.
