Application information based network route modification

A method, comprising:

• measuring, by a controller, an attribute of a first network route being used to communicate a first network flow between a first apparatus and a second apparatus;
• comparing, by the controller, the attribute with a threshold from a specification associated with the first network flow, the specification comprising a scheduled time for the first network flow;
• in response to the attribute being non-compliant with the threshold from the specification, selecting, by the controller, an alternative network route to communicate the first network flow between the first apparatus and the second apparatus;
• and
• routing, by the controller, the first network flow to be communicated via the alternative route between the first apparatus and the second apparatus, the routing comprising:
• determining that a second network flow that is being routed via the alternative route is movable;
• and
• moving the second network flow to a second route.
