Abstract
A method is provided. The method comprises: booting a system; determining if the system has properly booted; if the system has properly booted, then initiating communications with the at least one DC-DC voltage converter system that is configured to power at least one remote radio head; determining if communications have been established with the at least one DC-DC voltage converter system; and if communications have been established, then supplying a higher voltage from the system.
Claims21
A redundancy and safety system, comprising:
- a processing system;
- a high voltage switch, having an output, coupled to the processing system;
- a low voltage DC power supply coupled to the high voltage switch;
- a first communications circuit coupled to the processing system;
- a high voltage isolator coupled between the first communications circuit and the output of the high voltage switch;
- a voltage sensor coupled to the output of the high voltage switch, and to the processing system;
- wherein the high voltage switch is configured to be coupled to another DC power supply and a battery backup system;
- wherein the first communications circuit is configured to communicate over a power cable with a second communications circuit coupled to a DC-DC voltage converter;
- and
- wherein the high voltage switch is configured to isolate the other DC power supply from the power cable unless a signal is received by the first communications circuit through the power cable from the second communications circuit.

A system, comprising:
- a DC-DC synchronous step-down converter comprising an input and an output;
- a converter communications system circuit coupled to the DC-DC synchronous step-down converter;
- wherein the input is configured to be coupled to a safety system through a power cable and the output is configured to be coupled to at least one radio;
- and
- wherein the converter communications system circuit is configured to send a signal to the safety system through the power cable to enable the safety system to apply a voltage to the power cable.

A method, comprising:
- booting a system;
- determining if the system has properly booted;
- if the system has properly booted, then initiating communications with the at least one DC-DC voltage converter system that is configured to power at least one radio;
- determining if communications have been established with the at least one DC-DC voltage converter system;
- and
- if communications have been established, then supplying a higher voltage from the system to the at least one radio.
