Abstract
A separator for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a substrate, an organic layer positioned on at least one side of the substrate and including an organic material and an inorganic layer positioned on at least one side of the substrate and including an inorganic material, wherein the organic material includes two or more kinds of organic particles having different particle sizes from each other.
Claims13
A separator for a rechargeable lithium battery, the separator comprising:
- a substrate;
- an organic layer positioned on one side of the substrate and consisting of first organic particles, second organic particles, and a binder, the organic layer having a packing density of about 0.5 mg/cc to about 0.95 mg/cc;
- and
- an inorganic layer positioned on the other side of the substrate and consisting of an inorganic material and the binder,
- the second organic particles having a larger particle size and a smaller amount than the first organic particles;
- and
- wherein a ratio of particle sizes of the first organic particles to the second organic particles ranges from about 1:1.5 to about 1:5.
