Abstract
A camera mount is configured to securely couple a camera to an object. The camera mount includes a rail mount component and a sliding mount component which can be securely coupled, resulting in a low profile, easy to use camera mount. The rail mount component includes a rail base and two rail wings. The sliding mount component is configured to be inserted into the rail mount component. The sliding amount component further includes two levers and a sliding base with a plurality of protrusions for coupling to a reciprocal mount component. Each lever of the sliding mount component includes a pin and wedge that abut the inside of the rail base to secure the sliding mount component to the rail mount component.
Claims20
A sliding mount component of a camera mount that includes the sliding mount component and a rail mount component having a rail base, a first rail wing, and a second rail wing, the first rail wing and the second rail wing extending horizontally along opposite sides of the rail base, the first rail wing and the second rail wing protruding outward from and towards the rail base such that an angle between the rail base and each of the first rail wing and the second rail wing is less than 90 degrees, the sliding mount component being configured for insertion into the rail mount component and comprising:
- a sliding base;
- a first lever pivotally coupled to a first end of the sliding base;
- and
- a second lever pivotally coupled to a second end of the sliding base,
- wherein the first lever and the second lever each comprise an associated wedge such that when the first lever and the second lever are in a locked configuration, the associated wedges are configured to exert force towards the rail base such that a reciprocal force is exerted outward by the rail mount component upon the sliding mount component causing a friction force between the sliding mount component and an inside surface of each of the first rail wing and the second rail wing, securely affixing the sliding mount component to the rail mount component.
A sliding mount component for insertion into a rail mount component of a camera mount, the sliding mount component comprising:
- a sliding base having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a bottom surface between the first end and the second end;
- a first lever having a wedge and being pivotally coupled to the first end of the sliding base, the first lever being rotatable about the first end towards the sliding base to be in an unlocked configuration and away from the sliding base to be in a locked configuration in which the wedge is configured to engage the rail mount component;
- and
- protrusions protruding from the bottom surface of the sliding base and configured to interlock with a reciprocal mount component, the first lever being in the locked configuration when rotated away from the protrusions and in the unlocked configuration when rotated towards the protrusions.
A sliding mount component for insertion into a rail mount component of a camera, the sliding mount component comprising:
- a sliding base configured to be inserted into the rail mount component and be retained between a rail base and two rail wings thereof;
- levers pivotally coupled to respective ends of the sliding base and rotatable between locked positions and unlocked positions;
- and
- wedges protruding from corresponding top surfaces of the levers;
- wherein in the locked positions, the levers are substantially co-planar with the sliding base, the wedges are configured to engage the rail mount component, and the levers are configured to be positioned between the two rail wings;
- and
- wherein in the unlocked positions, the levers extend downward from the sliding base, and the wedges are configured to be disengaged from the rail mount component.
