Abstract
To provide a method for producing 3-methyl-2-thiophenecarboxylic acid. A method for producing 3-methyl-2-thiophenecarboxylic acid, which comprises reacting 3-methylthiophene with chlorosulfonyl isocyanate, and hydrolyzing the obtained reaction product.
Claims12
A method for producing 3-methyl-2-thiophenecarboxylic acid comprising:
- reacting (1) 3-methylthiophene with chlorosulfonyl isocyanate to obtain a first reaction product, and
- hydrolyzing (2) the first reaction product to obtain the 3-methyl-2-thiophenecarboxylic acid,
- wherein the reacting (1) is carried out at from 0 to 20° C.
