Abstract
A piler conveyor system for screening debris such as tare dirt from materials such as beets as the materials are conveyed across a piler. The piler conveyor system generally includes a frame supporting an upper conveyor and a pair of lower conveyors. The upper conveyor is adapted to receive materials such as beets. As the materials are conveyed by the upper conveyor, debris such as tare dirt or the like will fall through screening openings in the upper conveyor and onto the lower conveyor. The lower conveyor may then dispense the debris through a debris opening. The materials will drop off the end of the upper conveyor and fall onto the second lower conveyor, which will convey the screened materials to be dispensed.
Claims23
A piler conveyor system, comprising:
- a frame including an inlet end, an outlet end, an upper end, and a lower end;
- an upper conveyor comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the first end of the upper conveyor is connected near the inlet end of the frame, wherein the upper conveyor is adapted to receive a plurality of materials to be conveyed, wherein the upper conveyor comprises a plurality of screening openings through which a debris from the plurality of materials may fall;
- a lower conveyor connected to the frame beneath the upper conveyor, wherein the lower conveyor comprises a solid structure that moves upwardly in a first direction toward the outlet end of the frame, wherein the lower conveyor comprises a first section, a second section, and a debris opening between the first section and the second section, wherein the first section and the second section of the lower conveyor are each adapted to convey the debris in the first direction toward the outlet end of the frame;
- wherein the upper conveyor is positioned over the first section of the lower conveyor such that the debris from the plurality of materials may fall through the screening openings and onto the first section of the lower conveyor, wherein the first section of the lower conveyor is adapted to convey the debris to be dispensed at a first location through the debris opening;
- and
- wherein the second end of the upper conveyor is positioned over the second section of the lower conveyor such that the plurality of materials may fall from the second end of the upper conveyor onto the second section of the lower conveyor to be dispensed at a second location.
A piler conveyor system, comprising:
- a frame including an inlet end, an outlet end, an upper end, and a lower end, wherein the frame is angled upwardly from the inlet end to the outlet end;
- an upper conveyor comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the first end of the upper conveyor is connected near the inlet end of the frame, wherein the upper conveyor is adapted to receive a plurality of materials to be conveyed, wherein the upper conveyor comprises a plurality of screening openings through which a debris from the plurality of materials may fall;
- a first lower conveyor connected to the frame beneath the upper conveyor;
- a second lower conveyor connected to the frame beneath the upper conveyor, wherein the first lower conveyor and the second lower conveyor are distally spaced so as to define a debris opening between the first lower conveyor and the second lower conveyor, wherein the first lower conveyor is comprised of a solid structure that moves upwardly in the first direction toward the outlet end of the frame, wherein the first lower conveyor and the second lower conveyor are each adapted to convey the debris in a first direction toward the outlet end of the frame;
- wherein the upper conveyor is positioned over the first lower conveyor such that the debris from the materials may fall through the screening openings and onto the first lower conveyor, wherein the first lower conveyor is adapted to convey the debris to be dispensed at a first location through the debris opening;
- and
- wherein the second end of the upper conveyor is positioned over the second lower conveyor such that the plurality of materials may fall from the second end of the upper conveyor onto the second lower conveyor to be dispensed at a second location.
A method of conveying materials in a piler system, comprising the steps of:
- transferring the materials onto an upper conveyor, the upper conveyor comprising a plurality of screening openings;
- conveying the materials with the upper conveyor such that a debris from the materials falls through the screening openings;
- transferring the debris through the screening openings onto a first lower conveyor, the first lower conveyor being positioned underneath the upper conveyor;
- conveying the debris upwardly in a first direction to a debris opening by the first lower conveyor;
- dispensing the debris at a first location through the debris opening by the first lower conveyor;
- transferring the materials from the upper conveyor to a second lower conveyor, the second lower conveyor being positioned underneath the upper conveyor;
- and
- conveying the materials upwardly in the first direction to be dispensed at a second location by the second lower conveyor.
A piler conveyor system, comprising:
- an upper conveyor comprising an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein the upper conveyor is inclined upwardly from the inlet end of the upper conveyor to the outlet end of the upper conveyor, wherein the outlet end of the upper conveyor is higher than the inlet end of the upper conveyor;
- wherein the upper conveyor is adapted to convey a plurality of materials upwardly to be dispensed from the outlet end of the upper conveyor, wherein the upper conveyor comprises a plurality of openings, wherein debris from the plurality of materials transported by the upper conveyor falls through the plurality of openings;
- a lower conveyor connected to the upper conveyor, wherein the lower conveyor is positioned below the upper conveyor such that the debris falls onto the lower conveyor, wherein the lower conveyor comprises an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein the lower conveyor is inclined upwardly from the inlet end of the lower conveyor to the outlet end of the lower conveyor, wherein the outlet end of the lower conveyor is higher than the inlet end of the lower conveyor;
- wherein the lower conveyor is adapted to convey the debris upwardly to be dispensed from the outlet end of the lower conveyor;
- and
- a frame to which the upper conveyor and the lower conveyor are connected, wherein the frame is rotatable such that the frame may be raised or lowered so as to adjust an inclination of the upper conveyor and the lower conveyor.
