Abstract
A method and apparatus to capture carbon dioxide from combustion products in a flue gas, using replenishable anhydrous metal hydroxides, and capturing heat from an exothermic reaction of the carbon dioxide with the anhydrous metal hydroxides re-use in another heat using system.
Claims11
A carbon dioxide capture and heat recycle apparatus adapted to receive a flue gas containing CO2, the apparatus comprising:
- a reaction chamber adapted to receive the flue gas, the reaction chamber comprising:
- i. a drum to hold a dry particulate process chemical through which the flue gas may be flowed;
- ii. an agitator to agitate the process chemicals to ensure that the flue gas contacts the surface of the particulate process chemicals;
- iii. means to insert new particulate process chemicals into the drum, and means to remove spent or old particulate process chemicals from the drum;
- a heat exchanger to collect heat energy from the reaction chamber in a heat carrier material;
- and
- a heat storage means to collect and store heat from the heat carrier material.
