An antibacterial prochelator that targets antibiotic resistant bacteria having the following formula:
- wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of:
- R2 is
- wherein each R3 is alkyl, aryl, H, OH, NH2, SH or two adjacent R3 may form a bicyclic moiety with a 5 or 6-member aromatic ring;
- X is N-alkyl, NH, O or S;
- and any salt thereof.
