Peripheral sealing gland for elongate objects passing through a surface or beyond a pipe end

A sealing gland which in use forms a first seal between an outer surface of a first elongate member and the sealing gland, and a second seal between an outer surface of a second elongate member and the sealing gland, the second elongate member outwardly concentric to the first elongate member, wherein the first elongate member has a first elongate member diameter, the sealing gland comprising:

• a hollow tubular lower section having a lower free end defining a lower aperture, and an upper end;
• a hollow conical upper section atop the hollow tubular lower section, the hollow conical upper section having a base joining the upper end of the hollow tubular lower section in a smooth transition, and a plurality of indicators adapted to be cut to selectively provide an upper aperture defining an upper aperture diameter;
• and
• a thickened band extending circumferentially around the lower free end, the thickened band having a substantially curved outer profile when viewed in cross-section;
• wherein the thickened band has a first stiffness for an applied force and deflection;
• and
• wherein the hollow tubular lower section has a second stiffness for the applied force and deflection, the second stiffness being less than the first stiffness.
