A composition comprising a small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecule that specifically downregulates expression of a rs738409 C>G variant of a patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing (PNPLA3) gene, wherein the siRNA molecule comprises a nucleotide sequence of at least one of SEQ ID NOs 278-287.
