Abstract
A method of separating gas and a method of making a gas separation membrane. The method of separating gas includes flowing a gas stream through a membrane, in which the membrane comprises a crosslinked mixture of a poly(ether-b-amide) copolymer and an acrylate-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) according to formula (I) or formula (II); and separating the gas stream via the membrane. In formulas (I) and (II), each n is of from 2 to 30; and each R is independently —H or —CH3.
Claims15
A method of separating gas, the method comprising:
- flowing a gas stream through a membrane, in which the membrane consists essentially of a composition of poly(ether-b-amide) copolymer and crosslinked acrylate-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) according to formula (I) or formula (II):
- where each n is of from 2 to 30;
- and each R is independently —H or —CH3;
- and
- separating the gas stream via the membrane.

A method of making a gas separation membrane consisting essentially of
- dissolving poly(ether-b-amide) copolymer, acrylate-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) according to formula (I) or formula (II), and a photoinitiator in a solvent to form a polymer solution:
- casting the polymer solution into a mold;
- removing the solvent to form a film;
- and
- exposing the film to a photoactivator to crosslink acrylate-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) according to formula (I) or formula (II) to form the gas separation membrane.
