A method of manufacture of a lens array comprising:
- (a) creating a mold of a lens tile, the lens tile comprising an array of lenslets, all lenslets of the lens tile having the same first shape as such first shape would be illustrated in a cross section and the same second shape as such second shape would be illustrated in a plane view;
- (b) placing the mold in a vacuum and pouring in a composition under vacuum for making the lens tile;
- (c) curing the lens tile;
- (d) extracting the lens tile from the mold;
- (e) repeating the above steps from step (b) to create a desired number of separate, solid lens tiles;
- and
- (f) abutting the desired number of separate, solid lens tiles tightly to form an array of lens tiles;
- wherein the minimum diameter of the lenslets is 0.125 inches;
- wherein the composition for making the lens tile is a two-part polyurethane mixture;
- and
- wherein the mold includes micro-vents that allow residual air bubbles to be removed.
A lens array produced by
- (a) creating a mold of a lens tile, the lens tile comprising an array of lenslets, all lenslets of the lens tile having the same first shape as such first shape would be illustrated in a cross section and the same second shape as such second shape would be illustrated in a plane view;
- (b) placing the mold in a vacuum and pouring in a composition under vacuum for making the lens tile;
- (c) curing the lens tile;
- (d) extracting the lens tile from the mold;
- (e) repeating the above steps from step (b) to create a desired number of separate, solid lens tiles;
- and
- (f) abutting the desired number of separate, solid lens tiles tightly to form an array of lens tiles;
- wherein the minimum diameter of the lenslets is 0.125 inches;
- wherein the lens array is made from a two-part polyurethane mixture;
- and
- wherein the mold includes micro-vents that allow residual air bubbles to be removed.
