Abstract
Disclosed herein are borazine complexes and use of the same in perfluoroalkylation reactions.
Claims19
A complex having a structure of formula (I):
- wherein
- R1 is C1-8alkyl, C1-8alkoxy, aryl, C3-8cycloalkyl, or NR3R4;
- R2 is C1-8alkyl, aryl, or C3-8cycloalkyl;
- or R1 and R2 taken together with the atoms to which they are attached form an optionally substituted 5-7-membered ring;
- R3 and R4 are each independently H or C1-8alkyl, or R3 and R4 taken together with the N atom form a 3-5-membered ring;
- Y is a C1-8perfluoroalkyl;
- and
- M is a counterion.

A method comprising:
- contacting a base, a Lewis acid, and a H—C1-8perfluoroalkane to form a complex of the Lewis acid and C1-8perfluoroalkane;
- wherein the Lewis acid has a structure of formula (II):
- R1 is C1-8alkyl, C1-8alkoxy, aryl, C3-8cycloalkyl, or NR3R4;
- R2 is C1-8alkyl, aryl, or C3-8cycloalkyl;
- or
- R1 and R2 taken together with the atoms to which they are attached form an optionally substituted 5-7-membered ring;
- and
- R3 and R4 are each independently H or C1-8alkyl, or R3 and R4 taken together with the N atom form a 3-5 membered ring.
