A process comprising contacting 2-bromo-N-(2-bromobenzyl)-N-methylaniline with 2-((tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)oxy)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-3-yl lithium in a polar aprotic reaction medium under reaction conditions, thereby forming 2-(((2′-hydroxy-[1,1′:3′,1″-terphenyl]-2-yl)(methyl)amino)methyl)-[1,1′:3′,1″-terphenyl)-2′-ol.
