Abstract
Disclosed herein is a belt assembly including a flexible belt with an improved belt attachment. The belt attachment includes two crossbars spaced along the length of the belt. The crossbars retain bearings that allow predetermined movement in six degrees of freedom. The crossbars are connected by a rigid body that attaches to the bearings. Implements that are attached to the rigid body are simply supported but restrained in pitching rotation.
Claims10
A belt assembly, comprising:
- a flexible belt having a first surface and a second surface;
- and
- a crossbar attached to the first surface and spanning a portion of a width of the belt, wherein the crossbar defines a plurality of apertures for receiving fasteners, such that the crossbar is attached to the flexible belt via the fasteners, the crossbar further including:
- a plurality of spikes integrally formed with the crossbar and positioned in the vicinity of an aperture of the plurality of apertures to engage the first surface of the belt, such that the spikes restrain relative motion between the crossbar and the belt.

A belt assembly, comprising:
- a flexible belt having a first surface and a second surface;
- a crossbar attached to the first surface and spanning a portion of a width of the belt, wherein the crossbar defines a plurality of apertures for receiving fasteners for attaching the crossbar to the belt, and wherein the crossbar comprises a plurality of spikes configured to engage the first surface of the belt, such that the spikes restrain relative motion between the crossbar and the belt;
- and
- an implement coupled to the belt assembly through the crossbar.
