Abstract
A starting location for the mini-game is chosen in the legacy game state. A snapshot is generated of that location. Once the snapshot is taken, trigger events are identified. Triggers corresponding to the trigger events are identified. A mini-game script is generated using the snapshot and triggers. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
Claims18
An emulator for implementing a mini-game, comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory coupled to the processor;
- one or more instructions embodied in the memory for execution by the processor, the instructions being configured to implement a method for running a mini-game on the emulator, the method comprising:
- instructing the emulator to load a snapshot from a legacy game, wherein the snapshot includes data representing a starting location of the mini-game, the snapshot is associated with saved data corresponding to execution of the legacy game and execution state of the legacy game by the emulator, wherein the snapshot is used by the emulator to start and execute the mini-game;
- monitoring emulated data produced by the emulator for one or more events;
- detecting a trigger that corresponds to one of the events;
- and
- delivering one or more instructions to the emulator when a trigger is detected.
A non-transitory computer readable medium containing program instructions for an emulator configured for running a mini-game, wherein execution of the program instructions by one or more processors of a computer system causes the one or more processors, comprising:
- receiving a set of one or more mini-game selection inputs from a client device platform;
- loading a legacy game execution state corresponding to the one or more mini-game selection inputs;
- loading a mini-game script from a mini-game generator;
- receiving a snapshot of the legacy game from the mini-game script wherein the snapshot is associated with saved data and execution state data of the legacy game and the emulator uses the snapshot to start and enable play of the mini-game;
- generating emulated game data from the legacy game with input from a network;
- receiving game inputs from the client device platform;
- sending game outputs to the client device platform;
- and
- receiving game instructions from the mini-game script.
An emulator method for running a mini-game, comprising:
- receiving a set of one or more mini-game selection inputs from a client device platform;
- loading a mini-game script from a mini-game generator based on the one or more mini-game selection inputs;
- receiving a snapshot of the legacy game from the mini-game script, wherein the snapshot is associated with saved data and execution state data of the legacy game and the emulator uses the snapshot to start and enable play of the mini-game;
- generating emulated game data from the legacy game with input received over a network;
- receiving game inputs from the client device platform;
- sending game outputs to the client device platform;
- and
- receiving game instructions from the mini-game script.
An emulator configured for running a mini-game, comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory coupled to the processor;
- one or more instructions embodied in the memory for execution by the processor, the instructions being configured to implement a method for running a mini-game, the method comprising:
- receiving a set of one or more mini-game selection inputs from a client device platform;
- loading a mini-game script from a mini-game generator based on the one or more mini-game selection inputs;
- receiving a snapshot of the legacy game from the mini-game script, wherein the snapshot is associated with saved data and execution state data of the legacy game and the emulator uses the snapshot to start and enable play of the mini-game;
- generating emulated game data from the legacy game with input from a network;
- receiving game inputs from the client device platform;
- sending game outputs to the client device platform;
- and
- receiving game instructions from the mini-game script.
