Claims6
A method of killing, or reducing the growth rate of, a prostate cancer cell that does not express androgen receptor [AR(−) PC cell], wherein the cancer cell is part of a solid tumor within a human subject, the method comprising contacting the AR(−) PC cell with a composition consisting essentially of an effective amount of an IL1β-depleting agent selected from the group consisting of anakinra, XOMA-052, AMG-108, canakinumab, rilonacept, K-832, CYT-013-IL1bQb, LY-2189102, dexamethasone, interferon-gamma, pentoxifylline, and any combinations thereof, whereby the cell is killed or growth rate of the cell is reduced.
A method of treating or reducing rate of metastasis of a AR(−) PC cell in a human subject, the method comprising administering to the subject a composition consisting essentially of a therapeutically effective amount of an IL1 β-depleting agent selected from the group consisting of anakinra, XOMA-052, AMG-108, canakinumab, rilonacept, K-832, CYT-013-IL1bQb, LY-2189102, dexamethasone, interferon-gamma, pentoxifylline, and any combinations thereof, whereby metastasis of the AR(−) PC cell in the subject is treated or metastasis rate of the AR(−) PC cell in the subject is reduced.
