Abstract
Methods for treating various cancers by administering one or more compounds that target the dimeric protein survivin are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds are also disclosed, along with general methods of identifying anti-cancer compounds that target oncogenic dimeric proteins. Exemplary compounds that can be used in the disclosed methods of treatment and pharmaceutical compositions have the chemical structure.

A method of treating cancer comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a survivin-targeting compound selected from the group consisting of:
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- whereby the cancer is treated in the subject.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- (a) a survivin-targeting compound selected from the group consisting of:
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and
- (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A survivin-targeting compound for use in treating cancer in a subject, wherein the survivin-targeting compound is selected from the group consisting of:
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A survivin-targeting compound for use in manufacturing a medicament for treating cancer in a subject, wherein the survivin-targeting compound is selected from the group consisting of:
