Abstract
A rotational thrombectomy wire for breaking up vascular thrombus or other obstructive material having a core having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion has a smaller diameter than the proximal portion. A cable extends distally of the core. The cable has a first covering material positioned external thereof. A first coil is attached to a distal portion of the cable and has a diameter larger than a diameter of the cable and has a second covering material positioned thereover. The wire is rotatable by a motor.
Claims18
A rotational neurovascular thrombectomy wire for breaking up vascular thrombus or other obstructive material in a cerebral artery, the thrombectomy wire comprising a core having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a cable extending distally of the core and a hypotube coupling the cable to the core, the cable having a first diameter and the hypotube having a second diameter greater than the first diameter, at least a first covering material positioned over the cable to provide a smoother transition from the hypotube to the cable and increase the stiffness of the cable, the wire insertable into the cerebral artery and rotatable by a motor to macerate cerebral clots or other obstructive material in the cerebral artery.
A rotational neurovascular thrombectomy wire for breaking up vascular thrombus or other obstructive material in a cerebral artery, the thrombectomy wire comprising a core having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a cable extending distally of the core and a hypotube coupling the cable to the core, the wire insertable into the cerebral artery and rotatable by a motor to macerate cerebral clots or other obstructive material, the wire having a sinuous portion to create a wave pattern upon rotation to macerate thrombus within the cerebral artery.
