Abstract
The disclosure relates to a cotton variety, designated PX8188RF-HB, the plants and seeds of the cotton variety PX8188RF-HB, methods for producing a cotton plant, either varietal or hybrid, produced by crossing the cotton variety PX8188RF-HB with itself or with another cotton plant, hybrid cotton seeds and plants produced by crossing the variety PX8188RF-HB with another cotton variety or plan, methods for producing a cotton plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes, and the transgenic cotton plants produced by that method. This disclosure also relates to cotton varieties derived from cotton variety PX8188RF-HB, to methods for producing other cotton varieties derived from cotton variety PX8188RF-HB, and to the varieties derived by the use of those methods.
Claims17
A seed of cotton variety designated PX8188RF-HB, or a regenerable part thereof, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-122549.
A method for producing a cotton plant, comprising:
- (a) crossing cotton variety plant PX8188RF-HB, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-122549, with another different cotton plant to yield progeny cotton seed.
A method of introducing a desired trait into cotton variety PX8188RF-HB, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-122549, comprising:
- (a) crossing PX8188RF-HB plants with plants of another cotton variety that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- (c) crossing selected progeny plants with PX8188RF-HB plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of cotton variety PX8188RF-HB;
- and
- (e) performing steps (c) and (d) one or more times in succession to produce selected or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of cotton variety PX8188RF-HB listed in Table 1 as determined at the 5% significance level when grown in the same environmental conditions.
