Abstract
The present invention relates to a vaccine comprising Open Reading Frame 2 (ORF2) protein of Swine Hepatitis E virus (HEV) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, for use in the protection of anti-HEV MDA-positive piglets against HEV fecal shedding.

A method for protecting anti-HEV MDA-positive piglets against HEV fecal shedding, the method comprising administering to the piglet a vaccine comprising an immunogenically effective amount of a protein fragment of Hepatitis E Virus Open Reading Frame 2 (HEV ORF2) spanning at least the region from amino acid 125 to amino acid 607 and at most the region from amino acid 112 to amino acid 660, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
