## Abstract

Assemblies are provided for positioning within a lumen comprising a stent graft; and a sensor positioned on the stent graft. Within certain aspects the sensors are wireless sensors, and include for example one or more fluid pressure sensors, contact sensors, position sensors, pulse pressure sensors, blood volume sensors, blood flow sensors, chemistry sensors (e.g., for blood and/or other fluids), metabolic sensors (e.g., for blood and/or other fluids), mechanical stress sensors and/or temperature sensors.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for monitoring an endovascular stent graft that is located within an aneurysm sac of a patient, where the stent graft comprises at least one passive wireless pressure sensor, the method comprising:
a. transmitting a wireless electrical signal from an interrogation module, the interrogation module in wired communication with a power source located within the patient's body but not in physical contact with the sensor, where the interrogation module is located in the patient's body and is connected to an antennae that transmits the wireless electrical signal;
b. receiving the transmitted signal of part a) by a passive wireless pressure sensor positioned on the stent graft located inside an aneurysm sac of the patient, where the passive wireless pressure sensor comprises an antennae that receives the wireless electrical signal;
c. powering the passive wireless pressure sensor with the received signal of part b);
d. sensing pressure data by the passive wireless pressure sensor; and
e. outputting the sensed pressure data of part d) from the passive wireless pressure sensor through an antennae and then via a wireless signal to the interrogation module.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the wireless electrical signal of part a) is transmitted by radio frequency signal.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein power from the power supply is transmitted by wire to the interrogation module, and the power received by the interrogation module is transmitted wirelessly to the passive wireless pressure sensor.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the antennae of part a) is in wired communication with a capacitor, and power from the received signal of part b) is stored in the capacitor.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the wireless electrical signal of part a) provides power to the passive wireless pressure sensor and also provides an interrogation request to the passive wireless pressure sensor.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the received signal of part b) provides power for the passive wireless pressure sensor, provides power to carry out the sensing operation of part d), and also provides power to output a wireless signal from the passive wireless pressure sensor to the interrogation module.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein two or more wireless signals are transmitted from the interrogation module, each signal providing power to the passive wireless pressure sensor to permit the passive wireless pressure sensor to complete the sensing operation of step d) and subsequently each signal provides sufficient power to output the sensed pressure data of step e) to the interrogation module.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein wireless electrical signal of part a) is transmitted continuously with a sensing request component at a first part of the wireless electrical signal followed by power transmitted via the wireless electrical signal by a method selected from steady signal and pulse, to operate the passive wireless pressure sensor.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the interrogation module transmits the output sensed pressure data of part e) to a control unit, and the control unit wirelessly transmits the output sensed pressure data of part e) to a receiving unit located outside of the patient's body.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9 wherein the receiving unit is located within a patient's residence or office.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9 wherein the receiving unit is a computer or other device for display and use by a health care provider to treat the patient.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

A monitoring system for monitoring an endovascular stent graft according to claim 1, the monitoring system comprising:
a. an endovascular stent graft for treating an aneurysm in a patient, the stent graft comprising at least one passive wireless pressure sensor, the passive wireless pressure sensor connected to an antennae which can send and/or receive a wireless electrical signal that provides power to the passive wireless pressure sensor;
b. an interrogation module in wired communication with a power source but not in physical contact with the passive wireless pressure sensor, where the interrogation module is connected to an antennae that transmits the wireless electrical signal;
c. a control unit that is not physically connected to the stent graft or the passive wireless pressure sensor, where the control unit comprises a power source to provide power to the interrogation module via wired communication, thus enabling the interrogation module to provide power to the passive wireless pressure sensor via a wireless electrical signal.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)
