## Abstract

The invention discloses aluminium oxyhydroxide for use in the treatment and prevention of AD.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for treating Alzheimer's Disease (AD), the method comprising administering a pharmaceutical preparation to an AD patient, said pharmaceutical preparation comprising a European Pharmacopoeia grade aluminum oxyhydroxide in an amount of at least 1.2 mg as a single effective ingredient to treat AD.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, comprising directly applying the aluminum oxyhydroxide in a ready-to-use form to the AD patient.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered in an amount of 1.5 mg to 5.0 mg to the AD patient.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said pharmaceutical preparation further comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a stabilizer, a detergent, a non-therapeutic amount of an antioxidant, a complex agent for mono- or divalent metal ions, a sugar, a sugar alcohol, a glycerol and a buffer.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered to the AD patient subcutaneously, intranodally, intradermally, or intramuscularly.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered at least once monthly for at least six months to the AD patient.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered to the AD patient subcutaneously in the upper arm.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered to an AD patient with a Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score of between 23 and 30.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered to an AD patient with an MMSE score of greater than or equal to 27.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered to an AD patient with an MMSE score of 25 to 27.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered in an amount of at least 2.2 mg to the AD patient.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the aluminum oxyhydroxide is administered to the AD patient in liquid form in an application volume of 0.1 to 10 ml.
