## Abstract

The composition containing a pamoate salt of donepezil, the method of preparation and the use thereof are disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A pharmaceutical composition comprising a pamoate salt of rivastigmine and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A method of treating dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease, the method comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition of claim 1.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the composition is administered by injection.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the composition is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously.

### Claim 5

A compound comprising a crystalline pamoate salt of rivastigmine comprising a powder X-ray diffraction pattern having main peaks expressed as 2-theta at about 9.8, 19.0, 23.0, 26.8, 36.8 and 37.0±0.2 degrees 2-theta.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 5 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
