Abstract
An electronic device for use in a machine type communication (MTC) relay device includes circuitry having: a receive signal path to receive data from at least one MTC device; and a transmit signal path to forward processed data, based on the data, to an evolved NodeB (eNB), wherein at least one of: (a) the data is received via Device-to-Device (D2D) sidelink; (b) the MTC relay device is a relay node and the data is received via a relaying link; or (c) the MTC relay device is a multi-radio access technology (multi-RAT) capable small cell device and the data is received via WiFi, Bluetooth, Long-Term Evolution-Unlicensed (LTE-Unlicensed), or mmWave communication.
Claims18
An electronic device for use in a machine type communication (MTC) relay device, the electronic device comprising circuitry, the circuitry having:
- a receive signal path to receive data from a plurality of MTC devices;
- a transmit signal path to forward processed data, based on the data, to an evolved NodeB (eNB), wherein at least one of:
- the data is received via Device-to-Device (D2D) sidelink;
- the MTC relay device is a relay node and the data is received via a relaying link;
- or
- the MTC relay device is a multi-radio access technology (multi-RAT) capable small cell device and the data is received via WiFi, Bluetooth, Long-Term Evolution-Unlicensed (LTE-Unlicensed), or mmWave communication;
- and
- logic to:
- send a resource request, via the transmit signal path, to the eNB, the resource request to include information regarding the plurality of MTC devices, wherein the information includes identity and capability information for individual MTC devices of the plurality of MTC devices;
- collect, from the plurality of MTC devices, the data, which includes MTC measurement reports;
- and
- forward, to the eNB, the processed data, which includes a consolidation of the measurement reports from the plurality of the MTC devices.
An electronic device for use in a machine type communication (MTC) device, comprising:
- logic to produce data;
- circuitry to receive a downlink transmission from an eNB, the downlink transmission to include downlink control information (DCI) scrambled by MTC cell radio network temporary identifier (MTC-C-RNTI) that corresponds to a group of MTC devices, the DCI to include an indication of a resource allocation for transmitting data from the group of MTC devices to an MTC relay device;
- and
- circuitry to output the data in an MTC measurement report for transmission to an eNodeB (eNB) via the MTC relay device, wherein at least one of:
- the data is to be transmitted via Device-to-Device (D2D) sidelink;
- the MTC relay device is a relay node and the data is to be transmitted via a relaying link;
- or
- the MTC relay device is a multi-radio access technology (multi-RAT) capable small cell device and the data is to be transmitted via WiFi, Bluetooth, Long-Term Evolution-Unlicensed (LTE-Unlicensed), or mmWave communication.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media comprising instructions to cause an electronic device, upon execution of the instructions by one or more processors of the electronic device, to:
- send a resource request to an eNB, the resource request to include identity and capability information for individual machine-type communication (MTC) devices of a plurality of MTC devices;
- collect, from the plurality of MTC devices over device-to-device sidelinks, MTC measurement reports;
- and
- forward, to the eNB, a consolidation of the measurement reports from the plurality of the MTC devices.
