Monitoring system and method for connecting a monitoring device to a service server

A method for establishing a service connection of a monitoring device to a particular service provider via a control server, the method comprising:

• sending, by the monitoring device, an initial connection message to a control server using an address of the control server retrieved from a memory of the monitoring device, wherein the initial connection message includes an identity code that uniquely identifies the monitoring device;
• receiving, at the control server, the initial connection message that includes the identity code;
• matching, at the control server, the identity code to a particular service provider by accessing a database of identifiers in which each identifier is associated with a service provider;
• retrieving from the database an address of a network of the particular service provider;
• sending, by the control server, a configuration message to the monitoring device, wherein the configuration message includes the address of the network of the particular service provider;
• sending, by the monitoring device, a connection message to the address of the network of the particular service provider;
• and
• establishing a service connection between the monitoring device and the particular service provider.

A method for establishing a service connection of a monitoring device to a particular service provider via a control server, the method comprising:

• retrieving, from a memory of the monitoring device, an address relating to the control server and an identifier uniquely identifying the monitoring device;
• sending an initial connection message from the monitoring device to the address relating to the control server, the initial connection message including the identifier;
• receiving, at the control server, the identifier from the initial connection message;
• matching, at the control server, the identifier to a particular service provider by accessing a database of identifiers in which each identifier is associated with a service provider;
• retrieving from a database a particular configuration associated with the particular service provider;
• sending, from the control server to the monitoring device, the particular configuration retrieved from the database;
• sending a connection message from the monitoring device to the particular service provider in response to receipt of the particular configuration;
• and
• establishing a service connection between the monitoring device and the particular service provider.

A method for configuring a monitoring device to communicate with a particular service server, the method comprising:

• retrieving, from a memory of the monitoring device, an address relating to a control server and an identifier uniquely identifying the monitoring device;
• sending an initial connection message from the monitoring device to the address relating to the control server, the initial connection message including the identifier;
• receiving, at the control server, the identifier from the initial connection message;
• matching, at the control server, the identity to a particular program code by accessing a database of identifiers in which each identifier is associated with a program code;
• retrieving from a database the particular program code;
• sending, from the control server, a configuration message to the monitoring device, wherein the configuration message includes the particular program code retrieved from the database;
• executing, by the monitoring device, the particular program code to implement a particular service server address or
• changing a program code stored in the monitoring device to the particular program code of the configuring message in order to configure a particular service server address in the monitoring device;
• establishing a service connection between the monitoring device and the particular service server.
