Abstract
In an example, a method includes generating a targeted communication to respective computing devices of one or more members of an online social networking service, electronically collecting the responses to the targeted communication, mapping the responses to a cohort by updating a record in a database of members, the record identifying the cohort for the respective member, filtering information corresponding to a cohort to provide filtered cohort, and suppressing displaying of information corresponding to the cohort in response to the filtered information for the cohort indicating one or more of the biases being above a bias threshold value.

A system comprising:
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by a processor, cause the system to:
- generate a targeted communication to respective computing devices of one or more members of an online social networking service;
- electronically collect the responses to the targeted communication, the responses including a value indicating a salary for the member that responded;
- map the responses to a cohort by updating a record in a database of members, the record identifying the cohort for the respective member;
- filter information corresponding to a cohort to provide filtered cohort information indicating one or more of a sample bias for the cohort, a selection bias for the cohort, a non-response bias for the cohort, a truthfulness bias for the cohort;
- suppress displaying of information corresponding to the cohort in response to the filtered information for the cohort indicating one or more of the biases being above a bias threshold value.
A computerized method comprising:
- generating a targeted communication to respective computing devices of one or more members of an online social networking service;
- electronically collecting the responses to the targeted communication, the responses including a value indicating a salary for the member that responded;
- mapping the responses to a cohort by updating a record in a database of members, the record identifying the cohort for the respective member;
- filtering information corresponding to a cohort to provide filtered cohort information indicating one or more of a sample bias for the cohort, a selection bias for the cohort, a non-response bias for the cohort, a truthfulness bias for the cohort;
- suppressing displaying of information corresponding to the cohort in response to the filtered information for the cohort indicating one or more of the biases being above a bias threshold value.
A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium comprising instructions, which when implemented by one or more machines, cause the one or more machines to perform operations comprising:
- generating a targeted communication to respective computing devices of one or more members of an online social networking service;
- electronically collecting the responses to the targeted communication, the responses including a value indicating a salary for the member that responded;
- mapping the responses to a cohort by updating a record in a database of members, the record identifying the cohort for the respective member;
- filtering information corresponding to a cohort to provide filtered cohort information indicating one or more of a sample bias for the cohort, a selection bias for the cohort, a non-response bias for the cohort, a truthfulness bias for the cohort;
- suppressing displaying of information corresponding to the cohort in response to the filtered information for the cohort indicating one or more of the biases being above a bias threshold value.
