Methods and systems to detect and correct outliers in a dataset stored in a data-storage device

A system to detect and correct outliers in a dataset stored in a data-storage device, the system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• one or more data-storage devices;
• and
• machine-readable instructions stored in the one or more data-storage devices that when executed using the one or more processors controls the system to carry out
• reading parameter data from the dataset, the parameter data organized with rows and columns of parameter values, each column having the same type of parameter values and each row having different types of parameter values;
• searching each column of the parameter data for outlier parameter values based on the parameter values in the same column;
• searching the parameter data for outlier rows of parameter values based on first and second largest variations in the parameter data;
• determining substitute parameter values for the outlier parameter values based on non-outlier parameter values of the parameter data;
• and
• displaying the substitute parameter values and the outlier parameter values in a database management user interface that enables a user to selectively accept or reject each of the substitute parameter values for the corresponding outlier parameter values.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium encoded with machine-readable instructions that implement a method carried out by one or more processors of a computer system to perform the operations of

• reading parameter data from the dataset, the parameter data organized with rows and columns of parameter values, each column having the same type of parameter values and each row having different types of parameter values;
• searching each column of the parameter data for outlier parameter values based on the parameter values in the same column;
• searching the parameter data for outlier rows of parameter values based on first and second largest variations in the parameter data;
• determining substitute parameter values for the outlier parameter values based on non-outlier parameter values of the parameter data;
• and
• displaying the substitute parameter values and the outlier parameter values in a database management user interface that enables a user to selectively accept or reject each of the substitute parameter values for the corresponding outlier parameter values.
