Abstract
Described herein are frameworks, devices and methods configured for enabling display for facility information and content, in some cases via touch/gesture controlled interfaces. Embodiments of the invention have been particularly developed for allowing an operator to conveniently access a wide range of information relating to a facility via, for example, one or more wall mounted displays. While some embodiments will be described herein with particular reference to that application, it will be appreciated that the invention is not limited to such a field of use, and is applicable in broader contexts.
Claims10
A computer implemented building information display method for sharing content, the method comprising:
- displaying a touch/gesture driven user interface that is rendered on a first display touch screen coupled to a first terminal, wherein the user interface comprises:
- a map layer comprising image data representative of a facility, wherein the user interface is navigated by way of pan and zoom operations defined with respect to the map layer, wherein the pan and zoom operations cause portions of the map layer to be displayed;
- and
- one or more content control objects superimposed on and bound to the map layer, wherein each content control object is configured to enable launching of a content display object, wherein the content display object is associated with a building resource and wherein the pan and zoom operations cause a selection of the content control objects to be displayed corresponding to a displayed portion of the map layer, thereby to define an actively displayed subset of content control objects;
- wherein each content control object is configured such that interaction with each content control object launches a corresponding content display object adjacent the given content control object and over-laid on the map layer on the first display touch screen;
- wherein the user interface is configured to automatically launch, on a second display screen, a set of multiple secondary display objects as a result of the active display of a corresponding content control object within the actively displayed subset of content control objects, such that the set of multiple secondary display objects launched on the second display screen is dynamically updated as pan and zoom operations on the first display touch screen cause the displayed portion of the map layer and corresponding actively displayed subset of content control objects on the first display touch screen to change;
- observing a “throw” gesture made by an operator with respect to a given content display object on the first display touch screen, wherein the throw gesture is performed by moving a contact point along the first display touch screen in a given direction before breaking contact with the first display touch screen;
- maintaining a plurality of peripheral throw locations, wherein each location is selectively predefined by a selected association with a specific remote terminal;
- based on trajectory data associated with the “throw” gesture, identifying a target peripheral throw location and providing a signal to the associated remote terminal thereby to render the content associated with the content display object on the remote terminal;
- and
- wherein each building resource belongs to a building resource category wherein the building resource categories comprise one or more of;
- a surveillance system;
- a building management system;
- an access control system.
A computer system comprising:
- a client device including a first display touch screen and a hardware data port that is configured to receive data from a building resource, thereby to enable the client device to perform a method comprising:
- displaying a touch/gesture driven user interface that is rendered on the first display touch screen coupled to a first terminal, wherein the user interface comprises:
- a map layer comprising image data representative of a facility, wherein the user interface is navigated by way of pan and zoom operations defined with respect to the map layer, wherein the pan and zoom operations cause portions of the map layer to be displayed;
- and
- one or more content control objects superimposed on and bound to the map layer, wherein each content control object is configured to enable launching of a content display object, wherein the content display object is associated with a building resource and wherein the pan and zoom operations cause a selection of the content control objects to be displayed corresponding to a displayed portion of the map layer, thereby to define an actively displayed subset of content control objects;
- wherein each content control object is configured such that interaction with each content control object launches a corresponding content display object adjacent the given content control object and over-laid on the map layer on the first display touch screen;
- wherein the user interface is configured to automatically launch, on a second display screen, a set of multiple secondary display objects as a result of the active display of a corresponding content control object within the actively displayed subset of content control objects, such that the set of multiple secondary display objects launched on the second display screen is dynamically updated as pan and zoom operations on the first display touch screen cause the displayed portion of the map layer and corresponding actively displayed subset of content control objects on the first display touch screen to change;
- observing a “throw” gesture made by an operator with respect to a given content display object on the first display touch screen, wherein the throw gesture is performed by moving a contact point along the first display touch screen in a given direction before breaking contact with the first display touch screen;
- maintaining a plurality of peripheral throw locations, wherein each location is selectively predefined by a selected association with a specific remote terminal;
- based on trajectory data associated with the “throw” gesture, identifying a target peripheral throw location and providing a signal to the associated remote terminal thereby to render the content associated with the content display object on the remote terminal;
- and
- wherein each building resource belongs to a building resource category wherein the building resource categories comprise one or more of;
- a surveillance system;
- a building management system;
- an access control system.
