Abstract
A virtual reality goggle includes a goggle shaped body having multiple cameras mounted thereon. A display is supported by the goggle shaped body. A support extends between sides of the goggle shaped body and includes multiple cameras. Circuitry is coupled to receive video from the multiple cameras, the video comprising a composite field of view of approximately 360 degrees about the goggle, the circuitry to couple to a wireless communication device to transmit the received video to networked processing services, and to receive stitched stereoscopic three dimensional virtual reality video from the networked processing services, the circuitry further coupled to provide the received stitched stereoscopic three dimensional virtual reality video for display.
Claims21
A virtual reality sensing and presentation device comprising:
- a body configured to be worn by a wearer;
- multiple cameras, including first, second, third, and fourth cameras coupled to the body, each camera having a respective field of view and providing time-synchronized video image data, wherein the fields of view of the first and second cameras partially overlap and the fields of view of the third and fourth cameras partially overlap;
- a right display and a left display supported by the body in a position viewable by the wearer of the body;
- a memory storage comprising instructions;
- and
- one or more processors in communication with the memory storage, wherein the one or more processors execute the instructions to:
- transmit the time-synchronized video image data of the fields of view from the first, second, third, and fourth cameras to a processing device;
- receive, from the processing device, stitched stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) video image data including stitched right video image data including the video image data from the first and second cameras and stitched left video image data including the video image data from the third and fourth cameras;
- and
- provide the received stitched right and left video image data for display via the right and left displays, respectively.
A method for operating a head-mounted virtual reality sensing and presentation device comprising:
- capturing time-synchronized right and left video image data from multiple cameras coupled to the head-mounted virtual reality sensing and presentation device, the multiple cameras, including first, second, third, and fourth cameras having partially overlapping fields of view, wherein the first and second cameras provide the time-synchronized right video image data and the third and fourth cameras provide the time-synchronized left video image data;
- transmitting, the captured time-synchronized right and left video image data to a processing device;
- receiving, from the processing device, stitched stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) video image data including right video image data including the captured right video image data and stitched left video image data including the captured left video image data;
- and
- displaying the received stitched right and left video image data via right and left displays, respectively.
A non-transitory computer readable medium storing computer instructions for a head-mounted virtual reality sensing and presentation device, that when executed by one or more processors, cause the head-mounted virtual reality sensing and presentation device to perform the steps of:
- receiving time-synchronized right video image data and time-synchronized left video image data from multiple cameras coupled to the head-mounted virtual reality sensing and presentation device, the multiple cameras, including first, second, third, and fourth cameras having partially overlapping fields of view, wherein the time-synchronized right video image data is received from the first and second cameras and the time-synchronized left video image data is received from the third and fourth cameras;
- transmitting, the time-synchronized right and left video image data to a processing device;
- receiving, from the processing device, stitched stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) video image data including right video image data including the received right video image data and stitched left video data including the received left video image data;
- and
- displaying the received stitched right and left video image data via right and left displays, respectively.
