Armour

Armour for protecting a platform, the armour comprising a container for containing a liquid, said container having a forward threat-facing wall, a rear platform-facing wall and at least one shock-reflecting layer of material contained within the container, the shock-reflecting layer having a shock impedance differing from that of a liquid or a gel with which the container is to be filled and being positioned at an angle to the threat-facing wall whereby to reflect shock waves created in the liquid by passage of a projectile through the liquid back towards the projectile and across the trajectory of the projectile to induce tumbling of the projectile within the container, wherein the shock-reflecting layer is positioned at an oblique angle between 80° and 90° with respect to the threat-facing wall.
