Abstract
A battery management system for determining a lease rate for a rechargeable battery includes the rechargeable battery in communication with a database, a current sensor, a voltage sensor, a timer, a controller, and a memory in communication with the controller.
Claims18
A battery management system, comprising:
- a rechargeable battery in communication with a database;
- a timer;
- a controller;
- and
- a memory in communication with the controller, the memory including instructions, that when executed by the controller, cause the controller to:
- receive a current reading from a current sensor;
- calculate a plurality of changes in energy based on the current reading over periods of time;
- store the plurality of changes of energy in the database;
- wherein a cost for each change of energy is calculated by applying a first lease rate per kW-hr when the change in energy is greater than a predetermined C-rate;
- and a second lease rate per kW-hr when the change in energy is less than the predetermined C-rate.
A battery management system for determining a lease rate for a rechargeable battery, comprising:
- a plurality of rechargeable batteries in communication with a database;
- a timer;
- a controller;
- and a memory in communication with the controller, the memory including instructions, that when executed by the controller, cause the controller to:
- store a predetermined C-rate in the memory;
- store a cumulative low-rate energy inflow quantity in the memory, wherein the cumulative low-rate energy inflow quantity is a sum of each inflow amount having C-rate below the predetermined C-rate for each rechargeable battery;
- store a cumulative high-rate energy inflow quantity in the memory, wherein the cumulative high-rate energy inflow quantity is a sum of each inflow amount having C-rate above the predetermined C-rate for each rechargeable battery;
- receive an inflow current reading from a current sensor;
- calculate the energy inflow based on, the inflow current reading and a time period between readings;
- if the energy inflow is above the predetermined C-rate, use a first lease rate per kW-hr;
- and
- if the energy inflow is below the predetermined C-rate, use a second lease rate per kW-hr.
A battery management system for determining a lease rate for a rechargeable battery, comprising:
- the rechargeable battery in communication with a database;
- a timer;
- a controller;
- and
- a memory in communication with the controller, the memory including instructions, that when executed by the controller, cause the controller to:
- receive a current reading from a current sensor;
- calculate a change in energy based on the current reading and the voltage reading over a period of time;
- calculate the lease rate per kW-hr that is proportional to the calculated C rate.
A battery management system comprising:
- a rechargeable battery in communication with a database, wherein the rechargeable battery stores a plurality of energy flow quantities measured over discrete durations of time in the database;
- a controller;
- and
- a memory in communication with the controller, the memory including instructions, that when executed by the controller, cause the controller to:
- receive the plurality of energy flows from the database of the rechargeable battery;
- store a range of C-rate values on the memory;
- store a cumulative value of energy inflow for each stored C-rate value in the range of stored C-rate values;
- and
- calculate a lease cost by applying one of a plurality of lease rates per kW-hr to each cumulative value of energy inflow for each stored C-rate value in the range of stored C-rate values.
A method of determining a lease rate for a rechargeable battery, comprising the steps of:
- receive a current reading from a current sensor;
- calculate a plurality of changes in energy inflow quantities based on the current reading over periods of time;
- determine an amount of low-rate energy inflow quantity and an amount of high-rate energy inflow quantity accrued over a period of time, wherein the amount of low-rate energy inflow is the cumulative inflow quantity for changes of energy below a predetermined C-rate, and wherein the amount of high-rate energy inflow is the cumulative inflow quantity for changes of energy above a predetermined C-rate;
- calculate a cost for each change of energy is by applying a first lease rate per kW-hr when the change in energy is greater than a predetermined C-rate and a second lease rate per kW-hr when the change in energy is less than the predetermined C-rate.
