Abstract
A subsea tree for use with a well includes a master block that has a flow hub located at the top of the subsea tree, a flow bore in fluid communication with the well, a swab valve, and a master valve. A choke block is coupled to a side of the subsea tree and includes a choke in a flow passage of the choke block. The swab valve is selectively closed so that fluid flowing through the master block is directed through the choke in the choke block. A method for operating the subsea tree, includes directing flow of a first fluid into the flow bore of the subsea tree, through the choke of the choke block, and then into the flow bore of the subsea tree. The method includes reversing flow of a direction of a second fluid through the subsea tree.
Claims17
A subsea tree configured for use with a well, comprising:
- a master block, the master block having a flow hub disposed at a top of the master block and a flow bore in fluid communication with the well;
- a choke block integrated into the master block, wherein the master block and the choke block are formed from a single body;
- a conduit disposed in the choke block and in fluid communication with the flow bore;
- a choke disposed in the conduit;
- and
- wherein the choke comprises a retrievable choke insert disposed in the choke and independently retrievable from the choke and the choke block.
A method, comprising:
- flowing a fluid through an opening of a master block of a subsea tree and through a primary flow bore of the master block;
- directing the fluid from the primary flow bore of the master block to a conduit of a choke block integrated into the master block, wherein the master block and the choke block are formed from a single body;
- flowing the fluid through a choke disposed in the conduit, the choke having a retrievable choke insert;
- and
- restricting the flow of the fluid through the choke with the retrievable choke insert.
A subsea tree configured for use with a well, comprising:
- a master block, the master block having a primary flow bore in fluid communication with the well;
- a secondary flow bore disposed in the master block and in fluid communication with the primary flow bore;
- an upper conduit disposed in the master block and fluidly coupled between the primary flow bore and the secondary flow bore;
- a lower conduit disposed in the master block and fluidly coupled between the primary flow bore and the secondary flow bore;
- and
- a choke disposed in the master block in the upper conduit or the lower conduit;
- wherein the choke comprises a retrievable choke insert disposed in the choke and independently retrievable from the choke.
