A method of treating a disease or disorder associated with a bacterial infection in a subject, the method comprising the step of administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula II-A:

• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,
• wherein,
• W is NRDC(O)RD, N=C(RE)alkyl, N=C(RE)aryl, N=C(RE)heteroaryl, N=C(RE)aralkyl, or NRDCRB=N—OH;
• R′ is H or ORB;
• Q is H or ORB;
• or
• R′ and Q, together with the atoms to which each is attached, forms a heterocycloalkyl, which is optionally substituted;
• V is H or ORB;
• each RB is independently H, optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl, optionally substituted heteroaralkyl, or optionally substituted aryl;
• each RD is independently H, optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl, optionally substituted heteroaralkyl, or optionally substituted aryl;
• and
• each RE is independently H, optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl, optionally substituted heteroaralkyl, or optionally substituted aryl.
