Abstract
A treatment system for debriding a treatment area of a tissue site and applying negative pressure is disclosed. In some embodiments, the treatment system may include an ultrasonic bubble generator fluidly coupled to a negative-pressure source, fluid source, and a dressing. Fluid may be drawn from the fluid source to the ultrasonic bubble generator, whereby micro-bubbles and ultrasonic waves may be generated in the fluid before the fluid is instilled to the dressing.
Claims21
A system for treating a tissue site, comprising:
- a dressing for placing on the tissue site;
- a negative-pressure source fluidly coupled to the dressing;
- a fluid source;
- and
- an ultrasonic bubble generator coupled between the fluid source and the dressing, the ultrasonic bubble generator comprising:
- a gas bubble generator configured to inject micro-bubbles in a fluid from the fluid source prior to the fluid entering the dressing, and
- an acoustic transducer configured to transmit ultrasonic waves to the micro-bubbles in the fluid prior to the fluid entering the dressing.
A method for debriding necrotic tissue from a tissue site, comprising:
- applying a dressing to the tissue site;
- coupling a fluid source to the dressing;
- supplying a fluid from the fluid source to an ultrasonic bubble generator, the ultrasonic bubble generator comprising an acoustic transducer and a gas bubble generator;
- injecting micro-bubbles into the fluid with the gas bubble generator;
- generating ultrasonic waves in the fluid with the acoustic transducer prior to the fluid entering the dressing to deform at least a portion of the micro-bubbles;
- and
- delivering the fluid with micro-bubbles and ultrasonic waves to the dressing.
A system for treating a tissue site, comprising:
- a dressing for placing on the tissue site comprising:
- a manifold adapted to be placed proximate the tissue site, and
- a drape adapted to be placed over the manifold;
- a negative-pressure source fluidly coupled to the dressing;
- a fluid source;
- and
- an ultrasonic bubble generator coupled between the fluid source and the drape, the ultrasonic bubble generator configured to inject bubbles into the fluid and generate ultrasonic waves in the fluid prior to the fluid entering the manifold through the drape.
