Abstract
The present document describes methods of use of photo activated compositions for oral disinfection and/or treatments which comprise at least one oxidant, at least one photoactivator capable of activating the oxidant, and at least one healing factor chosen from hyaluronic acid, glucosamine and allantoin, in association with a pharmacologically acceptable carrier.
Claims8
A method of treating a red, swollen, or bleeding gum or for reducing bad breath, comprising:
- a) applying on a patient's oral tissue an effective amount of a composition comprising at least one oxidant selected from the group consisting of hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide, and benzoyl peroxide and Eosin Y;
- and
- b) exposing said composition to actinic light having an emission wavelength between about 400 nm and 700 nm for a time sufficient to photoexcite Eosin Y, thereby treating a red, swollen, or bleeding gum or reducing bad breath.
